mine doesn't have the little rubber thing but i left the silencer in-place. its something with the KN filter. too much cold air?

I think the k&n filter will let the snow pass the filter, and it is doing something with the maf. Really no way to figure it out unless you data log it.
I ran the truck with the scilencer out with the fram airfilter and it did it, as soon as i replaced the filter to the factroy one, it was fine.

My '99 suddenly started having symptoms like Nate's.... sort of a combination of a bucking/hesitation and reminded me of crossfiring plug wires. Strangely it started doing this when we had a snowstorm about a month ago.. I was thinking probably have to replace the plugs and/or wires and while checking the washer fluid the other day started looking things over and found the air filter box wasn't totally latched. I snapped it down tight and low and behold now for the past week, not a single hesitation,buck or miss... and it would never throw a code. Just a thought, might be worth checking out...
