Welcome to the forum
You should include year of Ranger and engine model, I will assume automatic trans, lol
2001 4.0l from profile
The no OD and now no start can not be related, just FYI, so you have two different issues, UNLESS its the Computer
You have a 5R55E automatic transmission model, 2001-2011 were the same, 1998-2000 5R55E were slightly different
You have a 4.0l SOHC engine, 2001-2011 were the same, 1990-2000 was a 4.0l OHV, very different engine
I would go after the No Start first.................I know DUH
Stopping and restarting engines quickly can cause them to flood out, just wait a few minutes and it will start again
Anytime you turn the key on you should HEAR the fuel pump run, but ONLY for 2 seconds, its in the gas tank behind the cab, but you CAN HEAR It, a HUMMMMM then off
Repeat key off and key on a few times until you can ID that noise so you know what to listen for the next time
Fuel pumps rarely "die" while driving, they just do not start one day, thats how electric motors die, no start, once they are running then tend to stay running
Look at the CEL(check engine light) while cranking the engine
CEL should come on with key on, that means computer has Booted Up
As soon as starter starts to turn the engine over the CEL should go OFF, that means the Computer is getting a Timing Pulse and will start spark and then fuel injectors
If CEL stays on then no start
Spray fuel into the engine, quick start(ether), gasoline, carb cleaner, ect....
Crank engine
If it starts and then dies spark is working but no fuel from injectors
If it doesn't start then no spark(or no compression)
Called 50/50 test
Did the OD OFF light ever flash in the last few months?
That's the "check transmission light", it means transmission codes were set
When you turned OD off did the OD OFF light come on?
