Offroading my fx4 offroad
Ok, so I've had my 06 for about a year now. It just rolled over to 100000kms and i still haven't really taken it out to play or get it muddy. So sure enough, mudfest is coming. Im not so into running the extream deep bogs or anything, but i would like to go play on some of the trails and rock, and tester out in the mud. I have a few worries tho. It is the FX4 level 2 model and I like that it runs good skid plates, has the limited slip and the bilstien shocks, but one thing i havent heard much about from ford is how the abs and stuff holds up in some mud and water. The diffs tranny and transfercase are all vented so I'm not to worried about them, ill check them out after for a milkshake. Im not gunna be running it in any deep water so I'm sure a snorkel isn't really important. Is there anything else on rangers that i should be looking at doing before i take her out for alittle play? Thanks for any advice

just dont go out side of your comfort zone scince its your first time out in the truck. just make sure when your done to clean the underside more than the body. thats were issues can spring up. not to mention having a mud hole in the driveway

lol ya, i didnt think id really have any problems, but my dads been b*tching, "oh if you take that thing in the mud your gunna destroy it, think of well all that muds gunna get in and how much it could mess up". Really the whole purpose of buying the FX4 was so i could be able to take it out and run some mud and trails and use it for what it says on the side, offroad. I still have the BFG a/ts it came with, how well do they work. Any i run them at 35, do they work well at alittle bit lower pressure?

Are you going to the gofer dunes mudfest? That places kicks ***! The big mudpits will eat your truck alive though. If you go stick to their trails

ive been with a sidekick before and the bogs were nothing there, that was 2 years ago, there new ownership tho, and i havent been sence they changed the layout, are they really that bad now, i was just gunna hit a few of there bogs still, but the trails rocks and mogols were my biggest interest. are you going next weekend? i was hoping to take my toyota again this year but cant find a trailer for her tho

so took the truck to mudfest, i didnt run any of the bogs, but the trails, rocks and moguls the truck preformed so amazing i couldn't believe it, i have pics being posted soon. The skid plates worked nice, no bends, plenty of power to get through everything, avoided some of the deep mud, but with how well this thing worked im sure i would have been even more amazed taking it through them. The mud that it did go through it worked well, the BFGs just kept pulling from start to finish, easily out preformed the cherokees and some of the sidekicks there. Saw a few other rangers but i was the only 4th gen there, Thanks everyone for all the advice, hopefully ill have the pics up as soon as i can, there are some really good pics
