noisy azz lifters
does anybody else have noisy lifters after an oil change.. i dont get it.. it did on my green ranger with 65,000 miles on it, and this one every time ive ever changed the oil.. anybody else experienced this? it tends to go away after like 500 miles but it is a little annoying.

Hum... usually noisy lifter are heard better before an oil change because of the additives depletion. Also, the longer you let the oil go.. the more viscous it gets. (thicker) Which rarely quiets a motor. Unless you let it go a LOOOOONG time.
If your suddenly hearing them after a oil change.. it would stand to reason that the oils additives are not enough to quiet them. Or that the oil passages feeding them are somewhat clogged.
Bumping the thickness up a little would be a good way of finding out whats happening.
Try 10w-30. Or even straight 30w. I personally would'nt go to a 40w unless the motor had at *least* 100k on it.
If it still rattles.. then I'd go back down to a 5w-30 and run full synthetic.

thats funny mine is doing that also. i run synthetic and it has never done it and the last oil change i used the Motocraft synthetic blend oil cause it is a lot cheeper. and normaly i run the synthetic Quakerstate truck 4x4 oil 5w-30. with the motocraft it seems like i'm driving a deisel when at a stop.i'm thinking about tossing in some lucas oil additive to quiet her down lol.
