intake manifold removal.

When i bought the Truck the dealership noted a slight coolent drip from the intake manfiold. How hard is this to replace (remove and such...) it looks pretty straight forward.

its pretty easy ... if you have an EGR it makes it a little harder, but its still pretty simple .... just make sure you remember where all the vacuum lines go for the reinstall. and make sure you know the torque specs for it as well, and the O-rings for the heads, make sure they are in good condition, you might have to replace them if they are cut in any way. a locking extension is good that way you dont loose anything down into the heads..... i think thats all all in all very simple ...

Ouch! It isnt under warrenty? Anyway, its not hard to remove at all, however remebering where everything goes is the hard part. Also you need to know how much torque to put on the bolts for the intake. Try to maybe find a shop that can get on Alldata.com and tell you the specs. A shop would probably charge you alot for it, I never did an intake on a Ranger (or any ford for that) but on zillions I've done on GMC 3300 and 3800 motors they charge about 6 hours of labor.

I'm surprised the dealership didn't fix that before they sold it to you.

just did mine yesterday

NO problem. Goes fairly fast. Im no big mechanic with the basic tools and had no problem. I started out thinking I needed head gaskets and found out it was my intake manifold gasket. Thank god because I couldnt get the exhaust manifold bolts out.
