I was wonder if this can be done on a PTAS

I just buy a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0L and the guy that I buy the truck off of. Had a new switch in it because he broke the old switch key.
When he was removing the chip out of the broken key.
He broke the key chip. I was wondering if there anyway to bypass the PATS thief?

No, no way to by-pass PATS, its actually a very good anti-theft system, it disables fuel injectors, and there is no workaround for that

You can have a Mobile Locksmith come out and he can cut and ADD new keys to the PATS system using a laptop computer with Ford Software
Or you can tow vehicle to locksmith or Ford Dealer

There is also a software called Forscan, its not too expensive
It can be used with laptop and OBD2/USB cable to erase previous keys and add 2 new PATS keys, have to add at least 2 keys or it won't work, you can add 3 or 4 but 2 is the minimum with this software

This forscan info is great. I used it for my ‘19 F250. Haven’t tried it on the Ranger yet. Good to know about the keys. My son lost the original keys a few years ago and actually had to call a locksmith While he still had the truck. I Was unaware of PATS back then. Since learning a small amount about PATS, I always wondered how the locksmith did it.
