How many timing chain tensioners are on the 4.0L V6 SOHC?
I have a 2005 Ranger that has the 4.0 V6 SOHC with rougly 142,000 and two days ago I replaced the rear and front timing chain due to the rattle on cold starts and at idle. For the most part it is fixed, I do hear a split second rattle on cold starts, but it goes away instantly. Except when I run the engine hard (I like to allow it to stretch its legs once in awhile) I still hear the rattle between 2,750-3000 RPM. I cannot hear it after 3000 RPM due to the engine noise. So is there a 3rd timing chain tensioner that I missed or what did I do wrong?
Thank you, this is my first vehicle, and my first Ranger so thank you for your patience. I know this may be a dumb question

When the 4.0 was introduced to the Ranger, there were 2 versions:
Sorry, I don't remember what year the balancer was thrifted from the 4x4's.
Here's a good video about the 4-chain version (3-chain similar):
- 2wd had 3 chains and 3 tensioners;
- 4wd added a balance shaft assembly, so it had 4 chains and 4 tensioners.
