Icon4 !!Flashing check engine light!!!!!?????

Ok well I went wheeling sunday. As you can see in the pics and vid section. My truck was running perfectly fine. I drove it about 5 more miles that evening. Than yesterday I drove my truck to work (22miles highway) ran smooth. Drove my truck back home. Ran smooth. Than after I got home about 3 hours later I went to take my tuck out. It started up fine, Ideled perfectly fine. Than when I went to pull off, when I hit the gas my truck was very hesitant. Started to like sputter/jerk/kick feeling. Then my check engine light started to Blink. I have never scene it blink?????????????

So I parked the truck, with it in idel. It runs perfect in park. Check everything I possibly could under the hood at that time. Did'nt see anything. So I turned the truck off and started it back up again. Started up like a charm, now the check engine light just stayed on..........so I ran it for 20miles. Doing so it would make a sputter sound when I hit the gas real quick, and it would start to jerk, kick, like movement. The rpms would kinda drop when it started to do so. So My question is, whats your opinion? Hers what I checked yesterday:

-All fluids
-fuel filter
-air filter (cleaned)
-mas (cleaned)
- Took out my spark plugs (They are autolites) The heads on them (to me) looked fine. Looked like normal wear, but around the threads there was some thick black build up. Yes I do burn oil. About 2 qrts evrey 3,000miles.

So Im going out, buying motorcrafts plugs and seeing if that will solv the problem? I'm thinking I have a fouled plug maybe. (I alread have motorcraft wires prob about 15-20,000 miles one them the most)

The flashing CEL means that the PCM is currently detecting misfire. The solid CEL means that a code is stored, possibly for the same problem.

Im going to if the light comes on after the spark plugs are in. It's more than likely the EGR valve. I might as well replace it anyway. I have almost 170,000miles on the Truck

The EGR valve sounds like a wild guess. That's not a very good way to troubleshoot.

Get the codes pulled!

ok, well I pulled the old plugs yesterday. I put the new plugs in. (Autolite Platinum) My truck runs super smooth now, even at low RPM going up a hill hitting the throttle. Noy I did at couriosity mesaure the gap of my old plugs. 2 out of the six plugs were gapped correctly!???? I must have been retarted and not measure em the right way or something. But the check engine light is still on. I reset the computer in my truck 2 times. (turning it on and off 3 time quickly). So I am going to get the code pulled today.......all i know is the problem is gone.

well you said it was after you where off roading, pull your air filter and clean the MAF.
its possible you sucked up some water and it got dirty, who knows, i would have to see some codes.

to really reset the code, you need to disconnect the negative side of the battery and let it set for about 10 minutes........

If you reset the PCM by removing the battery cable, the codes will be erased. You'd have to wait until the CEL comes on again to pull them.

You don't have to wait ten minutes... **if** you turn on the headlights while the battery cable is off.

Yes, if your goal is to reset the PCM, clear the fault codes and turn off the CEL. If the problem is still there after the reset, the CEL and codes will return sooner or later.
