Exhaust question-I know, your tired of them

Ok, just got my ranger 4.0 sohc. I would like to get an exhaust that will give performance but not be too loud. I would like to keep it as quiet as possible actually, but, i might be able to be persuaded. I was wondering if any of you guys with flows, borla, magnaflow and others could give me advice. I heard a vid with the mag, and flows. Anybody have any vids of there truck going by instead of sitting still revving with any of the above exhausts? Also, I am going to get an intake and I was looking at K&N, air raid, and one other I saw that someone posted on here but I cant find it. Anyone know if the whole intake with the tube benefits you any more than just putting on a filter and box on the end of the stock tube.

Thanks,

Shane

well if you want quiet then the 50 series flowmaster may be best for you... i have the 40 series and its really loud and gives a small boost in performance... i think the 50 series is very similar just not so loud... borla also has a very nice deep sound but not too loud... a good option but i think it costs more than the flowmaster

borla or magnaflow, for the noise thing. i went with a flow on mine, it was a little too droney. i went with a flow on my F150 too, just because it was cheaper. when i redo it i will use borla

No clips, but I am loving my Bassani Forward Exit. Not too loud at all. I just added the K&N FIPK and now it sounds truely sweet.

Looks like you met Leo. Try searching for exhaust, specifically borla. Then when you find the link he gives right click it and click save as. Try that out.

I think Hushpower mufflers are for street trucks. Or for vehicles with very little space to fit a muffler into. I've never heard what they sound like though.

Borla Freakin' Rules!!

Borla isint quiet.....Its close to flowmaster in sound if thats what your wondering. And i hear that performance is excellent, as well as the overall sound. Mine is on the way as we speak :) .... Here is the borla sound clip (if it works)

Magnaflow all the way! Not loud but the mellow rumble is perfect. I noticed a definate boost in power too. Very good stuff!

You'll be searching for a needle in a haystack to find anyone with a Ranger + Borla combination (I've found 3 including 01XLTranger4x4)...i've been lookin for a while and i'm getting it because no one else has it. I found the best prices at www.autoanything.com

Magnaflow is to damn quiet.....And the best place to buy Borla is ebay.....Turbo Xl, or Pro-Xs are both excellent mufflers, every borla muffler is t304 Stainless steel. The only major difference between the Turbo XL and the Pro-Xs is size. The Pro-Xs is smaller, giving its application a louder tone vs. the turbo xl. Leo says he had the Turbo XL, and that it wasnt too far off flowmaster as far as sound level. So, with borla im pretty much getting the whole package- Stainless Steel, 3-5 % increase in Hp and tourque, and A excellent sound that is going to make everyone wonder what i got under the hood......

i had a magnaflow 18-20 inch straight through muffler with the flange connected its only 6 months old and was on my truck for about 3. its got a chrome tip out the side that needs to be polished, i didnt like the muffler because it was too quiet, but it did provide power gains unlike a flow. if you want the best of both worlds and want to spend the money i reccomend an Aero-Turbine, when i switched from my magnaflow to the aero turbine i noticed a nicer exhaust tune but still not very loud, and it really gave the truck impressive gains above 3200rpm all the way to about 5700rpm, it was a huge noticeable power gain for an exhaust. i also noticed much better torque, the truck doesnt downshift as much. but this muffler will set you back about 200 dollars plus install costs. remember to keep your sound muffled and quiet there is always the option of resonaters.

Hey zabeard, that would be great. Any chance you could get me a vid of you going by with the magnaflow. Maybe accelerating a little and also wot if possible. Also, thank you other guys for helping. Yeah, that borla is a little to loud for me.

Also, how is the jba exhaust or does anyone have it? From what is claimed, they claim the most hp/tq.

I believe JBA uses a Magnaflow muffler in it's kit.
