I run an E-fan. They suck in the cold. Over the summer, its quite nice tho. Theres less parasitic drag on the engine itself so some power is restored. I don't know about gas milage pickup as I really don't monitor my milage. It was great on roadtrips to Detroit and coming back from Centralia.

I might put a bypass switch on it and add it to the switchpanel I'm presently making for over the drivers head. Temp stays low anyways ( around 165-180 ) so I'm not at all worried.
Maybe the controller is shagged, fukall I Know.

I have pictures of mine at home, I will post them tonight when I get home.
For my set up ( bobs that is ) it is a controler, you can set it to turn on at whatever temp you want. when installed mine, I installed an override switch ( on/off), and indicator light so i know it turns on, I will get you pictures of that too.

OK time for pictures. I am sorry they are not the best .... and that it took so long, i thought i lost my camera and found it today ....
I have the e-fan inside of the stock fan shroud .... and the controler is right above that ...
The controler ...
Here is my override switch and indicator light .... from sitting in the drivers or pass seat you cant even see the switch and light ... which i like since it is hidden. I can tell when the light comes on because it lights up the whole floor board ... lol ..
I hope this is what you were looking for everone. If not let me know I will try to get pics of what you are looking for ...
