Engine question

Will a 95 Ford explorer 4.0 work in my 02 ford ranger 4.0 sohc

ive heard of people putting ford raptor motors in the ranger, so im sure it will work if you just put in the time.

Simple answer, NO

Swapping in a 4.0 OHV is going to be as much, if not more, work as putting in a 5.0 from a 96-01 Explorer.

+1 to 2011Supercab's comment

You CAN do anything, but that would not be a smart or easy swap

2004-2011 4.0l SOHC is what you want to look for, 1997 to 2003 4.0l SOHC would need new timing chains before installing, so if you can get one for less $$$ then thats OK

The 1990-2000 4.0l OHV is the one that wouldn't be a good swap candidate
