EGR vs No EGR any real difference?

If I buy an EGR motor to replace my non EGR motor will there be any real difference that can't be solved with minor parts swapping?

Thanks,
Jonathan

EDIT: It is a '94 4.0.

I believe that only difference is that you have to fix the egr when it breaks lol. my ohv had an egr, and my new sohc doesnt have one and i cant really see a difference.

Only reason my has it is cause it has stupid CA emissions crap on it. Supposedly you get better gas mileage and makes it so you dont put out as much unburned gas or some hippie bull ****

Some new engines have enough valve overlap that they dont need EGR anymore, either enough exhaust remains inside, or is sucked back into the cylinder before the exhaust closes.
