Welcome to the forum

What year Ranger?

If trans cooler in rad "blew" then you replace radiator

I would pull thermostat and put housing back on, just snug so no big leaks

Fill NEW rad with water, leave cap off
Start engine and let it run for 2 or 3 minutes
Drain rad by removing lower rad hose

Repeat this 2 or 3 times until water coming out is clear

Now you need to flush the heater core, this depends on year, but generally you will take one of the heater core hoses off and point it down at the ground
Then use garden hose on other hose and flush it out using water pressure from garden hose
Then reverse the hoses and flush it the other way

Reinstall thermostat, new one would be best, and then refill with 50/50 coolant

There are 3 types of coolant, 2 can NOT be mixed or you will end up with a SLUDGE in the system, like you have now

Use HOAT type Coolant if you are unsure what was in there before, again this depends on the year of the Ranger

Silicate(IAT) and OAT can NOT be mixed, ever, not even a little

HOAT can be used on its own or with either of the other 2, its also the most expensive, lol.
