yet another gas mileage post

so I've got a 98 3.0 with a few mods (airbox mod, dual exhaust) and I'm running 32 BFG all terrains. I get about 200 miles a tank... which is really bad when I see other rangers with bigger tires getting 17-18 mpg. is something wrong with my truck that's causing it to get horrible mileage?

in the meantime, check out this facebook page for some lifted truck pr0nz

yup it was one of the reasons I got rid of the 3.0 and got a 4.0. Now I get 18-19mpg mixed driving.

I'm getting 19-21mpg in my 4.0L with 4.10s. Make sure all your fluids are fresh and check/replace your fuel filter. I've increased mileage from about 16mpg after going synthetic in the transmission and engine oil and changing the fuel filter. Next is synthetic in the differentials and transfer case.

depending on what you've done in the past and current miles on parts.

general things to replace would be.

fuel filter
oil filter
change oil
change gear oil in front/rear diffs
air filter
clean MAF
clean throttlebody
seafoam

change tranny fluid but depends on miles.

Has the speedo been corrected for the larger tires?

^^^^^^
this. Before I calibrated my ECU for larger tires, my mileage was bad. Then I put the proper tire size in and bam, all fixed.

For a drop that severe I would be looking at o2 senors.
