weird vibrations....

Hey guys,

I've been noticing this weird vibration comming from my truck lately. I'll start up the truck and let it idle and it sounds ok but when I put it in reverse or drive with my foot still on the break it starts making this vibration noise from somewhere under the hood.

I'm going to clean the MAF but is there anything else this could be? Loose pulleys? Bad belt?... Just looking to be pointed in the right direction so I can get this resolved.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I think we're all mystified. You're two wheel drive which kind of takes front drivetrain out of the picture. I suppose you could have a loose caliper or something. Maybe it's not from the engine but from the front suspension?

Pull your ABS fuse and make sure it's not something wierd happening there.

Maybe you could take another stab at a more descriptive explanation of the vibration? How's it sound? Deep, thumpy, thin, metallic, etc.? How's it feel? Like a hum, thump, sharp tap, etc.?

I think there's just too little to go on if you can't describe it a bit more.

In that same vein,

Could this be a vaccum problem?

Would you consider unhooking the large vaccum hose to the brake booster and plug it. Then recreate the conditions that cause it (in gear, foot on brake).

Overwhelmed IAC from a vaccum leak is my "guess" of the afternoon.

That's a pretty good idea.

It feels like a hum to be honest, I don't know it's weird and I know it's kinda hard to diagnose. I guess I could say it's kind of a little deep/metallic hum. I feel it under my feet somewhere and feel it in my seat a little bit when it happens. Usually when I shift from park to reverse or drive and keep my foot on the brake it will start the vibration untill I accelerate or start moving.

Could it be something to do with a vacuum leak I might possibly have in my air conditioning? Cus air doesn't blow through my vents, only through defrost.

It's a rattle vibration usually when idling or comming to a stop.
