Vacuum ball missing??

I have a 2000 Ranger 3.0L V6 flex fuel 4x4 and I was having an issue with my blower being stuck on defrost. After some research I read that there is supposed to be a vacuum reservoir ball on the inner passenger fender. When i was looking under the hood I couldn't find any ball anywhere but I also don't see any disconnected vacuum lines in that area. Is there any information that I am missing here? Could anyone get me a picture of what this is supposed to look like bolted onto the fender and such? Also what is the actual/technical name for the vacuum ball so that I can find it at a parts store? If it helps I have only owned this truck for about a year and a half and the blower door has never worked. Any information would be helpful, thanks.

Vac ball

Ball bolts onto inner fender, one vac line goes to right side intake other goes into heater flap

Forgot to say this is the 03 3.0 flex

Not sure of the exact year (2000 or 2001) but the reservoir changed shape and location. Later have the spherical reservoir as shown in the post above.

Earlier had a more oblong cylindrical shape as shown in this post. The location was more hidden also - above the plastic inner fender between the steel outer fender and the body structure. I don't believe that this earlier style can be seen from above. Picture shows the reservoir with the plastic inner fender removed.

Another possibility: Ford used a vacuum hublock system from 1998 model year through 2000.5. Since it was a mid model year change, I don't know if your particular 2000 4x4 has it or not. At any rate, the vac hublocks are notorious leakers and they share the reservoir with the HVAC controls. So, IF you have them, that would be another place to check in addition to the reservoir and vac lines.
