Truck died while driving today...
Ok guys, here it goes... Truck was running fine all day, i was on my way to my last account (i work for pepsi) and all the sudden i start loosing power. Im in third, hit the gas, and nothing, i start pulling over, no sooner than i do it stalls. Fires right back up... take off again, does it again, this time it stalls before i can even get stopped. Fires back up... drive a little further and it does it again. I get all the way pulled over, it stalls out, and won't start back up. Needless to say i had to get her towed, have no idea whats wrong (still had a quarter tank of gas) Anyone care to take a few guesses at the cause? I haven't had any problems like this with it till now. Its been a good truck for being a 98 with 177K miles on her.

I have 02 ranger edge with the 3.0 140,xxx miles after you ck the fuel if problems continue this is what mine has done somewhere over 100,000 one day on the way home it just died and would not restart I had a friend trailer it home when I got it home it started right up running fine when I went back into town it died again and I let it set a while then was able to drive it home after talking to everyone I finally found that the crank angle sensor near the firewall had went out The part looks like the bottom half of a distributor when removed This fixed my problem You might check there On mine the sensor cap had a cracked magneto as well however the whole part was bad.
hope this helps good luck

I just had this seemingly same problem and it was not the fuel pump! I tested the wiring harness to the pump and that was the problem. NO POWER! LOL Was I happy that I didn't have to buy another pump. Those things are 350-500 dollars. Been looking for the short in the wiring harness, but have not found it yet. I rigged up a bypass for now using some electrical wire, toggle, and a inline fuse. Works great, but don't have my gas gauge working. Get a tester and test that wiring harness right before it goes into the tank.

Inertia Switch Reset
Was driving down the road and all of sudden loss power. Pulled over and tried starting the engine but it wouldn't turn. Paid $150 to get a tow truck home. As soon as I got home I googled the problem right away and found the solution to my problem was the reset button..... Thank you for the help tho!!
