Serpentine Belt

Serpentine Belt
Probably a stupid question.. but I'm looking at my Serpentine belt right now. Do you really have to take off the fan to get this stupid thing off? (For my 2007 3.0).
Also, I keep reading about using a 3/8" socket to move the tensioner. I'm not seeing any holes that fit a 3/8" socket. Any tips?

No you dont have to take the fan off. once you get it off the pullies your can work it off around the fan. it might help to take lose the fan guard. I cant quite remember how the tensioner works but maybe there is a bolt on the front and you just move the pully so it losens. hopefully someone else will chime in on that.
When i had to do mine i cut it to get it off and then had to fiure out how to put it on with out ever taking it off. mistake on my part.

Yeah. I figured out the tensioner. Just had to use a 15mm wrench instead of a 3/8" socket. However, you might be onto something with the loosening the shroud. I could probably go around that to get the belts off and on. Have to give it a shot this weekend since I just put the old one back on for now. It'll last a few more days (actually doesn't look bad but I've heard a lot of squeaking up front lately so I figured I'd try replacing the belt).
