Absolutely correct. MPH tell potential ET and ET tells more drivers skill.
Depending on the overall power of the vehicle, you will gain .15 to .20 in the 1/4 for every .1 you gain in the 60.
Rotating weight is about the worst there is to have as well and 18's are a lot of rotating weight so that is also slowing you down.

i see your point with wheels being heavy but my 18's are lighter than stock rims and tires...by alot
and i've also been thinking about wheels spin, and i've come to a conclusion
when i was watching my friend race his svt focus, every time he took off he had massive wheel spin which kiled his time, and when i raced him the second time, we were dead even in our launch...
so im thinking i might have been spinning just as much as he was...at least 2 or 3 seconds long of wheel spin...and that would certaintly kill my time
well see next time i go.... i'll video tape the first run and see if i spin at all, then i'll try different techniques to keep it from spinning

Good point Jay. Low profile tires weigh more also. They have more metal in the sidewalls. DOn't know if that's what you have.
Sounds like you got a grasp. Some guys can nail it first time out, but it is usually a number of factors. You have to change how you drive, do some air pressure edjustements, etc. You'll get there.

My svt kept up w/ wrx's from any kind of roll. Either way I hope you get times suited better to your liking in the future.

I chased D. around the Frackville Mall with a passenger(try and guess who), and D. was right in front of me...and almost missed second...lol
I'm uploading the video of that run now...

Well its definetely a slow truck. The 3.0 just doesnt have anything in it to get a good time. I managed 19 flat @ 74mph . I'm no drag car racer, so im sure it couldve been in the high eighteens with a manuel 5 speed. But anways, i raced 2 times with the same results. Last race was against my friend in his SVT Focus....he beat me by 1 car length.
Good news is, I think my dad felt sorry for me and my slow truck, so maybe he'll pitch in when it comes time to replace the engine. Can you say V8?
anyone else drag race their 3.0 or 4.0?

A guy named Kevin has a single cab manual 3.0 here in town. He ran with K&N intake, Underdog 3 piece pulley, rogue roller rockers, replacement muffler (not catback), free TB mod, explorer rear with l/s and 3.73 gears, and the mileage tune from Rouge (he left the tuner at home). Wheels were probably 18" aluminum.
He consistently ran 16.01, 16.05 etc. Had he brought the tuner he would have been in the 15's. It was a cool day, probably in the 60's.
I've said it before, but the 3.0 in a single cab configuration is not a dog. Traction is as important a mod as HP. Limited slip should be a priority for anyone wanting to drag race.

It was about 85 maybe hotter out
we were both losing a ton of traction...it was both our first time...and we were flooring it off the line and spinning the tires too much
also at the time I had really bad plugs and no tune
I ordered a BAMA tuner a week ago an its not freaking here yet but when it does get here Im going back to the track asap
I'll let you guys know when I go

I have a question for you all. I have a 4.0 with 33s. I am thinking of entering a bracket race for ****s and giggles. (my friend is racing his GTO) MIght as well race while I am there since it is bracket racing.
You think I should chip it? think I will hit above 92MPH? I was thinking I would prally hit around 92 around 17sec? What you think?

this is just a suggestion, but is it possible your a/c was on? also were your windows up, b/c believe it or not having your windows down can slightly slow the vehicle down(aerodynamics). also having your a/c on takes about 20 hp away from the motors original horsepower.. just a thought.
