I've never liked the lower cubic inches being the top of the line. If the ranger is to be bigger in the next life, if there is a next life, it will need to compete BETTER than the competitors. I think the 3.5 250hp motor is kickass.....but come on. I don't want to be driving a toyota sized "big" engine. What ever happend to "there's no replacement for displacement"???? Ford, give us a powerfull, economic, 4.6 DOHC v8 as top of the line lil truck!!!! How bout a modified 4.0L, to make it around 300cu in w/ around 300hp. FORD.....let's see 1hp per cubic inch!!!! I'd definately buy one.

Yeah the new Edge they are talking about is basiclly a little SUV on the fusion plateform.
Edit: that new motor is basiclly a punched out escape motor, I would like to see it in the 500 and the escape, like most DOHC motors the torque is up at like 4K rpm or something so IMO it would not make a good truck motor at least not for towing or hauling, but it would be good in lowered ranger STX.
