Guys with Screamin Demon coil packs need you're input!
Hey guys I am lookin to get a screamin demon coil pack for my 99 ranger 3.0 and wondered if you guys with this thing have noticed a difference in power or performance with it? $100 for one does not sound like a bad price at all but I just don't know if it will help much. Thanks in advance!

Well looks like I'm gonna give it a go then! What would be some good wires to use with it? And should I stick with the Motorcraft plugs or are you guys running something else?
Oh also are there any other small inexpensive mods you guys can think of to do to gain any more power? I know that a combo of things help and so far I have the airbox mod with new filter, going to do a full tune up on her in a couple months and am going to have the clutch replaced since the throw out bearing is shot and going with a Spec Stage 2+ kit with Royal Purple in the transmission and diff and plan on putting a small exhaust on it but don't know the best way to run it for power gains. Usually just dump them under the cab.

Yeah, the destructions that come with the coil say to gap to .065 to see the most performance gains. I didn't have .065 on my wire-type spark plug gage, so I gapped at .060, using Motorcraft Plats and the wires from Wayne at Underdog-Performance.
I originally gapped at .044, but then my dad read the sheet, and told me the .065 thing, so I had to take them out and re-gap lol. So remember: HASTE MAKES WASTE!!!

I'm just getting my truck back on the road after it sitting since the first of the year. It needed a slave cyl. but I had alternative transportation.
With 125K on it , it just dropped #2 coil. While pulling the plugs I checked the gap and they all measured .080. Prior to the coil failing the engine ran fine with the stock coil and FACTORY plugs.Mileage was around 25mpg.
So IMHO the factory coil will run OK even with the plugs gapped at .060 , the same as the screamin demon.
I haven't checked the price for the screamin demon , but I need the truck tomorrow so I guess NAPA gets to soak me $114 + tax.
