Funny noise at WOT

I have a 2005 Ranger 3.0 Automatic that I got recently and it runs great and I also had it inspected so no obvious issues. It does make this very strange ticking noise when I go full throttle but it runs fine. The noise is coming from the back of the motor and down low so I'm thinking it's either exhaust or someone mentioned the cam sensor can make a noise when it dries out?

No, not Cam synchronizer, that squeals, more like slipping fan belt sound

Check WOT(wide open throttle) relay in engine fuse box, also called AC Clutch relay.

When you press gas pedal to the floor the computer thinks you want all available engine power so it will cut power to AC compressor using the WOT relay.

Your sound does sound like a relay "clicking" but in the cab so not sure what that would be.

Just pull out WOT relay and drive truck to see if clicking goes away at WOT

Another place to check for clicking relay is in the Smart Junction Box(SJB), in the 2005 that should be in the cab, passenger side kink panel, remove the panel then test drive to see if you can hear it better

Ok that makes sense I will try disconnecting the relay. It makes sense it could be that since it only happens at wide open throttle. It's either that or maybe something loose that is rattling like a heat shield. I had a heat shield on my old car that was loose and I went crazy trying to find the noise.
