Analog Oil Gauge

Hello Ranger Forum,

2004 Mazda B3000 DS 3.0L, 157,000 Miles.

I added a Bosch analog oil gauge line & tee to the oil pressure sender port.

So far so good:

It’s pipe threaded coupler into the block and reducer to the oil gauge line. I think it’s 1/4” npt coupler and the 1/8” npt reducer.

Sorry for not having part numbers, I took the oil sender unit to auto parts store, told them what I needed and they provided the adapters.

Remember oil sending unit ground is the block, so no plumbers tape on the first few threads.

That’s bad ***

I have an 05 3.0 and I’m pretty sure i know exactly where that is. it’s in the back of the block close to the intake manifold correct?

gauge set up?

Yes, back of engine on the passengers side, below the head. I had the engine out at the time, so it was easy for me to install.

With the engine in, you can remove passenger side tire and inside fender cover to get to the gauge port.

Here is picture of final gauge setup. Oil and vacuum gauge hoses come up thru the truck floor. Electrical wires splice into radio accessory, dimmer, and ground wires connector:

Bought from Amazon:

Bosch SP0F000054 Style Line 2" Triple Gauge Kit (Black Dial Face, Black Bezel)

Swapped out the temp gauge for vacuum gauge:

AUTO METER 2337 Autogage Vacuum Gauge Panel,2.3125 in.

I attached the vacuum gauge to port just after throttle housing butterfly

I’m so jealous I might have to do this

i drive stick so I might have to put the gauges somewhere else but I might do oil pressure, vacuum, and lastly voltage

Nothing for overhead pods, they are usually pretty universal?

I know the pillar pods only go up to 2002 Rangers

What about Heads up displays?
Never looked at that for gauges just speedometers

Or replace the cluster with a video display screen, $$$$, then you can pick and choose what to display, lol
I think there are rasberry pi version for alot less, its the screen that costs the money

I’m just hesitant to buy a two gauge pod to go above my vents bc the dash is curved and I don’t want to spend almost $100 on a gauge set that looks like ****

I think I’ll do something like this

So that’s the Bosch electric oil pressure gauge correct? The electric oil gauge I see by them, the sensor looks a lot larger than yours

For my setup,
The Bosch oil gauge uses a 1/8' diameter clear hose that taps into the brass tee. I still have the OEM oil sensor on top of the brass tee to please the PCM computer. The only electrical wiring to the analog oil gauge is for the back lighting.

Ok you have the mechanical set up

I’ve seen a lot of reviews hating on the plastic hose, wonder if there is a better replacement like rubber or something like that

True, the hose will leak if you overtighten it. The brass Ferrell cuts into the hose.

However, with the mechanical gauge you can get an accurate oil pressure reading if the idiot light cycles on and off.

Which mine was doing where it freaked me out thinking the engine was starved for oil.

They do make an 1/8th inch copper tubing for this.

Did you bleed the air out of your line? I've seen people that don't do it and the mechanical gauge fluctuates because of it. I do like your set up!

Pressure is pressure, the fluctuating gauge is caused when the oil compresses the air in the line, after that it will read accurately.
