Hi guys. I recently purchased a 2002 Ranger XL 3.0. It's throwing both P0171 and P0174 so I started troubleshooting and looking for issues under the hood.
I came to find one of the intake vacuum lines is in very bad shape and has major cracking. I need to replace it. Please see the pictures below for the exact vacuum hose I am referencing.
I have searched all over the internet for a part number for this hose. My question: Does Ford sell these individually already cut to size? Or is this something I need to make myself? If so, anyone have some extra hose laying around? :)
Figured out a solution if anyone is having the same issue. This was one of the hoses coming off the vapor canister purge valve and running up to the upper intake manifold.
Went to O'Reilly's and bought some generic vacuum hose to make a new hose. I bought 2 feet and trimmed to fit. The size was 3/8". It cost me $5.50. First picture is the new hose diameter and thickness. Second picture is the old hose. (You can see the huge slice it had down the side.)
Installed the new hose and cleared the p0171 and p0174 codes and they haven't came back yet after driving around 20 miles.
Hey I came across your thread and I needed some help with my ranger it’s a 2003 3.0 I installed the engine and I don’t really know where the vacuum lines go exactly. Could you send me some engine bay pics of yours? Thanks
