Icon6 1995 ford ranger 3.0 auto SHIFTS HARD

At grandpa cruisin speeds it shifts okay but when you need to get out in front of someone it will shift firmer than my bros 99 and on highway passin speeds if you gun it and it shifts into top gear at 70 it shifts hard as hell. wat do u guys think rebuild trans r could a sensor be going bad. it has 92000 miles on it. idk it doesnt slip jus shifts hard. gimme some input.

New problem or old? Could be last owner had a programmer in it. Some of them allow you firm up shifts and change shift points at wide open throttle

Thats a lot of miles, could be time for a rebuild. You can get a shift kit and do it yourself, I don't know where to get a shift kit for the 4r44e though.

I don't think thats what a shift kit does, I might be mistaken though.

a shift kit does firm up the shifts and im pretty picky i just want a smooth shift to where i almost cant feel it.

Oh I was wrong then lol, yeah I'm not a fan of firm shifts either. I would take it to a tranny shop and see what they say.

Is the CEL (Check Engine Light) on? If the PCM goes into "Limp Home Mode" from an error, this will make the tranny shift hard.
