1988 2.9 injector issue after rebuild
My son and I finished rebuilding his 1988 2.9L engine for his Ranger. We re-installed the engine and re-connected all of the wiring. As soon as you turn the key to the ON position, all off the injectors begin buzzing (opening and closing). We had to unplug the fuel pump relay to keep from filling the cylinders full of fuel.
If you unplug the distributor, the buzzing stops. We have changed ignition modules and distributors, but the same result. Plugging just the ignition module in doesn't buzz until you ground the back of the module. We have tried using a computer from a different truck but no change. We are in the process of tracing ALL of the wiring harness to check for broken wires or gorunds, but haven't found anything yet.
Any other ideas on where else to look?
