Icon5 Vacuum Reservoir location

Finally getting around to correcting the recurrence of the P0401 code on my 98 2.5L, and smoke checking to the visible parts of the Vacuum system seems to indicate that the vacuum system leaks are under control. But, I have not laid eyes on the Vacuum Reservoir.

I am assuming the vacuum reservoir should be a black plastic baseball size/shaped device under the air intake box with the white and black vacuum lines going to it mounted to the passenger side fender well. Well if so mine is not there. The previous owner as I have come to find often removed instead of fixing things on the truck. The vacuum lines that would be going to the vacuum reservoir go under the coolant and washer fluid and appear to enter the cavity between the fender and the fender liner.

Before I remove the fender liner to look is there a possibility the factory location for the reservoir is between the fender and fender liner or is my vacuum reservoir missing?

Thank you

Jim

"cavity between the fender and the fender liner"

Yes, that's where it would be
You can sometimes see if looking up under the bumper on the passenger side

When you look at the fender liner with the tire removed, you will see the two bolts that the reservoir mounts to (or rather, the bolt holes where it should mount)

That is where it should be at, if it is not there, trace the vac lines.

Thanks, on my day off I 'm going to replace the shocks and while I'm at the fender well I'll check it out.
