new truck new probs...lol

installed a new/used cluster that has a tach on it......everything seems to be working properly but the old cluster temp never went above 1/4..this newer cluster says it overheating and when i turn the heat on it goes back down but only a lil and still reading hot....when i pop the hood the motor doesnt seem that hot like its overheating and the oil and coolant is full, when the door is ajar the check gas cap light comes on which is prob just a different thing and tach seems to readin a lil low........truck is a 2.3 manual with 245/70/16 and has 342 gears....any help or links to this would be greatly appreciated. I just dont wanna go dumpin a whole bunch of unnessasary money in it.

You put the cluster in the truck you got from Sonic (can't remember what the rest of his s/n is) right? IIRC its a 95 and when you put a new cluster in it it causes it to read hot. There is something in the temp section of the 95 clusters that are different.

They say in this thread that you have to swap the temp gauge into the new cluster.

you need a 95-97 cluster in order for it to work, i think the cluster needs to be a 4 cyl cluster as well
