Need a CLUTCH?? (RATTLES)
i just noticed a noise the other day. When i was ordereing food at the drive through and i put the clutch in to go into 1st, i heard a rattling noise like a screw bouncing around inside my transmission. When i go into reverse it rattles again. Its hard to get into first. Sounds like my clutch, flywheel, or what??
Low on clutch fluid (as i cross my fingers)???

Im having the EXACT problem. i was told it could be the Slave thats making it so difficult to shift. no idea what the rattling is.
It CAN be a do it yourselfer. but its somewhat difficult. not hard. just difficult.
Slaves and masters are around 60 each. and clutches (With throwout bearing pressureplate and friction plate) are anywhere between 90 - 400$ <-- Includes slave cyclinder and master cylinder.
But if someone could explain what the hell that rattling is. i would be VERY thankfull.
Heres a link to my Thread just liek this if you need any info from IT as well. My Thread.

good to hear from you again hellion. I think you helped me out a while back to solve my rear end problem. The bearing went out so i found a rear end at the junk yard for $100 and my car stooped bouncing.
Now, 2 weeks into my new rear end, the friggin clutch is giving me problems.
I have the HAYNES manual. My uncle can help me with the jack to drop the transmission. But are there any specific things i should be aware of when replacing the clutch. Dont overtighten a certain whatever, etc???

So i went to dialAclutch.com and found LUK clutch kits. My truck is a 2001 ranger 2.3L. The luk kit did not include the slave cylinder.
It included:
include a clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing,
pilot bearing (where required) and clutch alignment tool. $191.26
Then i seen LUK sold the slave cyclinder for $67.
Shipping is like $37.
Wouldnt it be cheaper if i could buy the whole kit including the slave. Who has a good website with everything??

I still want to know what the HECK IS RATTLING!!!!
But the shifting problem all but went away entirely after a couple days.(And a fluid change)
My opinion. your truck is lying to you. mine is too. the problem doesnt just come and than disapear, it has to be intermittant, comes and goes. so if i were you, since you already paid for the stuff. swap it out still, cant hurt it. as for me, i have to ride out this good spell until i can afford one agani lol.
