High rpms while driving 2.3L 04
Hi,
While driving the rpm’s won’t hardly drop below 2000 while going most speeds. If I’m going over 35 the lowest it will go while pushing the gas would be about 1750rpm. If I let off the gas it will drop closer to 1500 but as soon as the gas is touched it will jump back up instantly. It was driving normal before but then I changed the spark plugs since it was giving a misfire code. A little after that this started. I’m not sure what could be the problem any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for responding.
It is an automatic and when in neutral while moving it seems to sit at about 1100 rpm.
The check engine light came on today while driving I haven’t been able to check the code yet.
A month or two ago it did have a misfire code on two cylinders but I changed the spark plugs and they all went away.

1,100rpms when in neutral and moving is correct, do same test but slow down and stop while still in neutral, RPMs should drop to 800-850 or so
Yes, get the new code
You can get a $15 Bluetooth reader, like an ELM327
And a $5 app for your phone, Torque Pro
To get and clear codes,,but you can also watch LIVE DATA that the computer is seeing from all the sensors in real time, which can be helpful
Not a Ford thing, these work on ANY vehicle sold in the US or Canada, 1996 and up, its required by Law
