HELP! 1987 ford ranger
Hello everyone i am new to the forums and would really appreciate some feed back!
I have recently purchased a 1987 Ford Ranger 5-speed manual 2.3L. The truck sat for about 4 years with never being driven. I have changed the oil and all the fluids 3 days ago. I replaced the tail pipe and muffler due to an exhaust leak. Anyways, today while i was driving for about an hour (40 miles) i started to hear a loud click under the hood. I had continued to drive being that everything felt fine and just wanted to make it home until the issue could be fixed. After driving another 30 miles I was going around 60mph and all of a sudden the gas pedal wasnt working and slowly i went from 60mph to 0 & being stuck on the side of the road. The engine shut off but the radio was still on. The battery is totally fine and when i try to start it, it almost starts but wont. From what i have been reading it seems like possibly it could be the fuel pump?? If anyone knows or has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you guys.

Welcome to the forum
Reads like your timing belt broke, sat for a long time so probably dried out and started cracking
The "ticking-clicking" you heard could have been an indicator of that starting to happen, a band separated and was hitting the metal cover/shield
See if the Cam Gear is turning when engine is cranked
Broken timing belt will NOT damage the engine
Other issue IF Cam is turning, fuel pump died, check for fuel pressure at the Schrader valve on the engine, looks like a tires air valve
