I am going over the cooling system and have read the heater control valve can cause issues and wanted to clean it out or be preparing to replace it . This is what I have
Where I would expect an multi port valve I have a 3 way with one the off line running somewhere to the other side of the engine at the other 3 line have connectors but run straight to thermostat housing and a 3 way with lower radiator hose near water pump ...

Is this normal? If not should I install the correct valve?
