Fast clicking sound on deceleration & occasionally at idle
I have an 03 B2300, auto, with 167k miles. I first noticed the clicking sound Tuesday while driving at 70 mph on the highway. It happened while letting of the gas pedal, and as soon as I completely let off the pedal the sound goes away instantly. I listened for it for a few days and have been able to replicate pretty much every time at speeds above 30 mph. Yesterday I was able to hear it at low speeds Roth the windows down, with constant pedal pressure. When I got home I was able to hear it coming from the engine bay while idling. After letting it sit a few hours I started the truck but was unable to replicate the sound while idling. It tried revving the engine with no luck. The speed of the clicking isn’t affected by the rpm’s. However it does seem to get louder with higher rpms. I took an audio clip but can’t get it uploaded so I’ll try to get a video clip to upload.
I’ve searched and couldn’t find much on deceleration clicking sounds.
Also, the only thing I’ve done to my truck recently is remove the bed to replace the fuel level sensor & fuel line.
many assistance is appreciated, TIA!
