2.5 Code "Comeback"

So the story goes like this:

My brother gets a hold of a '99 B2500 (the "Mazda Ranger" or "Yankee in a Kimono", if you will) that showed a MAF sensor fault. Cleanig didn't help, so he replaced it... and did the ol' "battery disconnect" to clear the code. Problem is, it came back, and I doubt this is something a handheld can clear.

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum

We need the Code number

Have a look here at full code list: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...II_codes.shtml

These are just "some" MAF codes, not all

P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction
P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem
P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
P0103 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High Input
P0104 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Intermittent

P1100 Mass Air Flow Sensor Intermittent
P1101 Mass Air Flow Sensor out of Self-Test Range

P1121 Throttle Position Sensor Inconsistent with Mass Air Flow Sensor

The exact code is needed, "I think it was.........." can actually mislead you

Disconnecting the battery doesn't work on 1995 and up "Ranger" computers, they have the newer EEC-V Ford computers
