Icon4 1995 2.3 bog and rough idle

I'm 16 and my grandpa gave me his ranger (sat for maybe a year).. i've been working to get it running again and i have a few concerns. when i start it cold, it will bog like its getting ready to die and either it will die or it will shake the truck like crazy until i give it gas. when its finally ready to idle it sounds weird... i don't wanna call it a misfire, but that's the best way i could describe it. there's a pretty noticeable bog between 1-2k rpm and anything above that sounds kinda like the idle "bog/misfire" it does run tho never randomly cuts out.

I've got a little list going and right now i need some of the following; all 8 plugs, oil replacement, coolant refill, and i believe new head gasket and seals (has previously smoked a few times) (im leaving out framework)

my question is how do i diagnose my bog problem, and how do i fix it.

thanks fellas

Check the MAF there is two small wires inside if they get dirty it could cause a problem, just sorted same thing on my 98 2.5 bogging at wot... you have to use special air flow meter cleaner
