1994 B2300 AC pressure switch

1994 B2300 Manual Tran.

My
AC compressor is cutting on and off rapidly when I am idling my car. I can hear the A/C clutch "Clicking" On and OFF and ON and OFF, etc ..but I still have AC in my car though. Some said most likely I have a bad A/C pressure switch. Now, how can I replace it? Any advise.

It could also be low on refrigerant which will cause the compressor to cycle fast but not low enough to see a big drop in coolness in the cab.

Yep that's what my thought was as well. How hard to add refrigerant?

You can get the "Do it yourself" cans at any auto parts store. They even come with a gauge (Low side only) to check the pressure as you fill it up. That is where I would start.

For my model (1994 2.3L), do I get a 12 ounce or 20 ounce can?

Either one. If you go 20oz and don't need it all you just close the valve and keep the rest.

Walmart sells the Arctic Freeze which is 22 oz and also has a Stop Leak additive.

I bought a can (20 oz) of A/C Pro at Walmart. A/C was turned on (max) and compressor was running, checked pressure before charging. It was in correct level (green). Compressor did not click ON and OFF like before. Very strange...

Can I change the A/C switch without recharging ...?

Yes you can.
But first you can try a little trick. Start truck and turn on A/C. hook up the can again to read the gauge. Spray water on the condenser and see if the gauge shows full or low. If it shows low you can add some. The water simply acts like your driving by cooling it down. If the water does not make it show a low pressure then you probably have a bad pressure (cycling) switch.
