I have a 5in block in the back. i know people frown on tall blocks and they cause axle wrap, but ill be making some traction bars after i get everything else squared away.

Good! I was about to say " "

Look into James Duff Traction bars. They're cheap and well built.

Well havent updated for a while, well last week me and a buddy went to install the new gears and spool in the rearend. Had everything apart and was putting everything new back in and come to find out the ring gear would not match up to the pinon, had about a half in. gap. Called to make sure i had the right parts, which i did and they asked for a build # on the rear axle, found out i had a dana 61. Pretty much everything is the same but the pinon is offset to allow lower # wise gearsets. pretty much pissed me off right their.
Last thursday i pick up a real 60 from a friend and today i started cleaning it up and tearing it apart. Also yanked the rearend from the ranger today.
My new to me true Dana 60

The teardown and comparing the 60 to the 61

The real difference is the center section is smaller on the 60.

Well got my gears and spool put in the real dana 60 this time. Made a dig differnce in power and traction. Also liking the chiping im getting around corners.
Took the truck on a back wood trail yester, Still dont have 4x4 yet need to get a driveshaft and maybe redo my tranny crossmember

Also took out my boys to do some target practice.
