New brakes
Well, at only 42k my 2006 FX4 needed front brakes. I find this supprising because I usually get 60-80k out of a set of OEM brakes?
The stupid front disks have delaminated! There are chunks missing out of them where the pads ride. And everywhere else on the disks they are flaking apart. I brake like the avg 70yr old so I'm kinda upset that they were made so cheaply by ford.
Anyway, I put a new set on the front last night and completely bled all 4 corners. And IMO took a HUGE leap of faith with the new disks. I bought a set of cyro treated power slots and a set of hawk LT/SUV pads. The pads I'm faimiliar with but the disks were $141 a piece!
I must say.. this ranger stops nearly as well as my 4 disk caddy now. Only time will tell if the cyro treated disks will be worth the cost. At least for now this beast will STOP on a dime! It's heads and tails better than the OEM setup.

I'm in a pretty harsh environment for rust. Up here when it snows in china they start throwing salt.
These things have some kind of silver coating on them too. That ought to help. And since the hubs face was greased from the factory I cleaned them and put on a coating to help keep them rust free as well.
It hurt to spend that much on a set of rotors. But from all the reviews I could find it seems that they don't warp or pit. Even after 100k miles and several sets of brake pads people seem to keep them going.
